Jocelyn Chan, her work extends beyond entertainment to healing and uplifting others through music and sound therapy. Her commitment to social impact and healing arts embodies the creation of joy by fostering wellness, hope, and connection, making her a modern artist who truly creates joy in diverse ways. Anita Shum promotes Chinese culture through Mindful Mandarins by preserving language heritage and teaching underserved communities. She also co-founded Dream Makers to empower under-resourced mothers in Hong Kong for better well-being and inclusion.
Anita Shum shares her view on being a creator of joy: it means spreading positive energy and motivation to herself and those around her. She finds great fulfillment in turning ideas into reality and embraces the excitement of trying new things. For her, being the first to explore new paths inspires others to join the journey. Every creative step not only lifts her own spirit but also sparks joy and inspiration in others, creating a powerful ripple effect. Together, she believes, we can build a brighter and more joyful world.
Her next adventure is deeply rooted in promoting Chinese culture through the Mindful Mandarins Foundation, which has supported the underprivileged since 2014. Mindful Mandarins is on a mission to preserve and promote the importance of the Chinese language legacy and cultural heritage worldwide. It aims to help the world break down communication barriers and connect through shared language and understanding.
The foundation also teaches learners and educators from underserved communities, who have limited access to modern Chinese as a second or additional language, providing innovative teaching methodologies that benefit their future career competitiveness and communication opportunities.Additionally, she co-founded the Dream Makers Foundation, dedicated to empowering mothers and single mothers from under-resourced families in Hong Kong. Their mission is to enhance physical and mental well-being, unlocking potential for greater economic and social inclusion.
Jocelyn Chanโs international journey has profoundly shaped her artistry. Having studied history and the music industry in the U.S. before returning to Hong Kong, she discovered that music is a universal languageโone that helped her reconcile diverse cultural experiences and create her own sonic world. This perspective continues to inspire her today, as she explores new ways of blending cantopop with the healing power of sound.
Reflecting on her debut album, Jocelyn notes how her music has evolved. Once writing retrospectively to connect through shared experiences, she now composes in real time, walking alongside listeners as they navigate emotions together. Concept-driven by nature, she prioritises storytelling and authenticity over fitting into a single sound.
Her commitment to sound therapy deepened after discovering the scientific potential of frequencies to transform both emotional and physical states. Personally, sound healing helped her overcome insomnia and anxiety, inspiring her to merge healing instruments into her cantopop singles. For the past four years, Jocelyn has used this hybrid approach to create music that is both expressive and therapeutic.
For her, being a โCreator of Joyโ means offering companionship, reflection, and emotional safety through musicโwhile reminding others, and herself, that joy is a powerful form of healing.
Jennifer Shum has made a remarkable journey from the entertainment industry to the world of psychology and counselling. While her earlier career brought joy and fulfillment, she discovered her true passion in helping people more directly. โThrough counselling, I found a meaningful way to facilitate healing and growth,โ she shares, grateful for the deep connections she now builds with others.
Her personal health journey with hyperthyroidism also shaped her outlook, teaching her the importance of self-love, resilience, and cherishing each day. โIf you keep going, life will keep supporting you too,โ she reflects, noting how overcoming challenges has strengthened both her mindset and her compassion for others.
As a mother, Jennifer hopes to pass on the values of kindness, resilience, and curiosity to her childโguiding them to embrace emotional intelligence, appreciate lifeโs simple joys, and cultivate a lifelong love of learning. Through her counselling practice and her online show ใๅฟ็ๆฅๆๅฎคใ, she often helps people facing struggles with confidence and self-doubt, empowering them to discover their unique strengths and potential.
For Jennifer, being a โCreator of Joyโ means finding beauty within and sharing that light with othersโthrough her work, her personal journey, and her commitment to spreading healing and hope.
