Le French May Roundup
For over three decades, the French May Arts Festival has served as a luminous bridge between the heritage of France and the vibrant energy of Hong Kong. This year, under the evocative theme of Re/naissance, the festival invites audiences to rediscover the transformative power of creativity. From digital immersions into the Louvre’s greatest treasures to high-octane electronic beats on the harborfront, here is a look at five standout events defining the season.
1. Meet Mona Lisa & Portraying the Renaissance

At the heart of this year’s festival is an unprecedented collaboration with the Musée du Louvre and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. This exhibition blends traditional curation with cutting-edge technology. Through the “Meet Mona Lisa” immersive digital journey, visitors can step inside the world of Leonardo da Vinci, while “Portraying the Renaissance” brings physical masterpieces from the Musée national de la Renaissance and the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana to Hong Kong. It is a rare opportunity to see the 16th century through a 21st-century lens.
2. DJ Snake at the Victoria Harbourfront

In a bold move that signals the festival’s modern evolution, world-renowned French producer DJ Snake takes his signature “Pardon My French” energy to the iconic Victoria Harbourfront. This performance transforms the city’s skyline into a backdrop for a massive outdoor electronic dance music celebration, proving that French culture is as much about contemporary global pop influence as it is about historical fine arts.
3. Alliance Cosmique

Alliance Cosmique at Tai Po Civic Centre (30–31 May 2026) is a 45‑minute immersive performance merging art, science, and technology. Through luminous visuals and acoustic‑electronic music, it transforms a drop of liquid into a poetic universe. Created by Symbiose, IUNI, and Super Organique, it inspires ecological awareness and joy. Suitable for ages six+.
4. VOÛTE by Cirque du Corbak

The festival’s “French Rendezvous @ Tai Kwun” series brings the thrill of the circus to the historic Parade Ground. Performed by the talented graduates of France’s National Center for Circus Arts (CNAC), VOÛTE is a display of acrobatic prowess and poetic movement. The performance utilizes the architecture of Tai Kwun to create a sense of wonder, making high-level circus arts accessible to families and casual passersby alike.
5. French GourMay

No celebration of French culture is complete without its gastronomy. Throughout the month, French GourMay partners with local restaurants and importers to spotlight the culinary excellence of France. This year, the focus remains on the “art of the table,” encouraging gourmands to explore regional wines and delicacies, reminding us that the joy of sharing a meal is a cornerstone of the French way of life.
Whether you are a seasoned art collector or a curious foodie, the French May Arts Festival 2026 offers a radiant vision of culture that is both timeless and strikingly new.
