A celebration of collective expertise was on proud display across our three Chinese Departments of Shrewsbury International Asia during their second annual Chinese Learning Conference, held last week. Led by the Head of Chinese, Ms Haze Kwok, who has most recently been appointed Shrewsbury International Asia Chinese Coordinator.

 

Woodland Pre-Schools Academic Acceleration Programme

Woodland Pre-Schools is tackling with its new Academic Acceleration Programme (AAP) – to accelerate children’s progress and promote school readiness. This programme will increase progress beyond the normal rate, with learning outcomes carefully monitored in line with the EYFS guidelines and strengthened with an added emphasis on literacy and numeracy. Woodland is well aware that the pandemic has posed significant challenges to the wellbeing of young children. In addition to academic support, there is also strong support for children’s wellbeing as well as creating a safe environment where they can pursue their own interests and engage in activities that bring meaning and purpose. In AAP, the academic emphasis is complemented by attention to social-emotional and English-language development.

 

Father’s Day Story-Telling & Gift-Making Workshop

To celebrate Father’s Day, ESF is organising a story-telling and gift-making workshop for father and child (or, for mother and child to make something for Dad!). Suitable for children aged 24 months to 12 years old, the workshop will feature a group story-telling session about how special Daddy is. Each child will finish the session with a homemade present in the form of a backscratcher, a medal-shaped card and a newfound appreciation for the man in their lives. Sign up here.

Mighty Oaks Open Day

Mighty Oaks International Nursery and Kindergarten is giving potential students and their parents a glimpse into the school’s learning journey. Named “Let Summer Begin!”, the Open Day will mark the beginning of the holidays with a series of child-centred, exploratory activities. You will meet the school’s teaching team and parent volunteers and get first-hand information of how the education in Mighty Oaks is like and apply for 2022-2023 that day. Suitable for children from eight months to five years old. Register here.

HKIS Awarded Anti-Epidemic Hygiene Certificate by HQAA

HKIS

HKIS has been certified by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, a Hong Kong Government body, on the anti-epidemic measures implemented at our campuses! The certification was provided after the full assessment by HKQAA on the protective measures HKIS have implemented at school against COVID beyond the best practices on hygiene & cleaning.

 

French International School received IEYC awards

FIS

French International School received IEYC accreditation award for their early year’s curriculum for both JL and TKO Campus. They are IEYC and IPC accredited globally. The International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) is a child-centred and research informed curriculum for 2-5+ year olds. The IEYC recognises best practice and the developmental needs of early years education and enables teachers/practitioners to embrace the interconnected nature of learning.

Two groups of Hong Kong Academy Grade 5 students have been looking into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of Poverty and Good Health & Wellbeing for their G5X Project. Last week, they worked with impacthkcharity and went on a Kindness Walk to help give out food and essentials to those in need.

Harry Wright International

Hong Kong International swimmer, Olympic medalist and World Record Holder Siobhan Haughey will be competing soon in the World Championships on June 20-23. The first Hong Kong swimmer ever to reach the Olympic finals with two silver medals under her belt, Siobhan was trained by the Harry Wright International (HWI) swim school in Causeway Bay from a young age.

Check out the HWI swimming programme; it has a long history of providing excellent teaching and coaching in Hong Kong, with lessons ranging from Parent & Baby classes to Performance team coaching.  No matter how old you are or whatever your experience, you have the chance to enjoy the sport, learn a life skill and reach your potential.
