English Schools Foundation

The English Schools Foundation (ESF) today announced that, starting on 1 August this year, families would be able to apply for any of their 22 schools, following the ending of the geographical or ‘zoning’ requirement that was previously in force. At present all ESF schools, other than ESF Discovery College, Renaissance College and the five ESF Kindergartens, operate a system where families can only seek a place for their child in a school that sits within their allocated geographical area in Hong Kong based on their residential address. The new policy will end this practice and will open up all schools to applications regardless of where the family lives. This new admissions process will be in operation for families who submit an application on or after 1 August. Parents who are already in the application process prior to this date will be contacted and offered the chance to revise their choice of schools.

Ceremony

Eye Level Critical Thinking Math Challenge, a highly anticipated annual event organised by Eye Level Hong Kong, was successfully held on 16th April at the Kowloon Bay International Trade & Exhibition Centre. The competition aims to provide a relaxed environment for students to learn from and communicate with each other, broaden their horizons, and enhance their interest and ability in learning math and logical thinking. This year, the event attracted over a thousand students from kindergarten to Grade 1.

To recognise the outstanding performance of each participant, a unique award ceremony and carnival was held on 30th April at Hall 3 of the Kowloon Bay International Trade & Exhibition Centre by Eye Level Hong Kong. The award ceremony is completely designed from children’s perspective, combining the excitement of receiving awards, the joy of family witnessing their children’s achievements, and warm family activities into one event. They are honored to have Mr. Lee Young Ho, the Director of Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong, and several kindergarten principals as the award presenters of the ceremony. Various Korean cultural experience activities, children’s STEAM booths, and fun game booths were set up at the venue for the invited students and their families to enjoy a happy and unforgettable award ceremony.

YMCA Christian Academy

YMCA Christian Academy (YCA) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the new mural on 70 Bridges Street, Sheung Wan. This mural was commissioned by YCA to draw attention to our presence and what we stand for as a school on Bridges Streets and in the Sheung Wan community. The mural has already gained lots of instant popularity with visitors dropping by to take photos everyday.  Today, they were honoured to celebrate with two special guests: Mr. Martin Megino, the mural artist, and Mr. Anthony Ng, our School Supervisor. Both presented a lovely and warming message to our students, staff and families regarding God’s glory and presence in our community. Their students also highlighted the meaning of the mural, Caring, Curious, Confident and Christ-like, which are the 4Cs our students value.  The event was followed by the official ribbon cutting in front of the mural and a school photo to celebrate this special occasion. We hope that this mural will be a good reminder to our students to continue displaying their 4Cs and continue to ignite bright futures of abundance and fulfilment.
