A homegrown social enterprise Cookie Smiles is once again making headlines with its new endeavours.
This month, in partnership with leading hotel The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, Cookie Smiles launched a Trial Work Placement Scheme (Internship) programme for students of the Shine Skills Centre, a member institute of the Vocational Training Council (VTC). The new programme takes students from the Certificate in Fast Food Operation (QF level 1) and Bakery and Café Service and Catering Service courses, and finds them placement within The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong’s organisation.
Named the Shining Star Programme, the new course aims to provide students with disabilities with real-life work experience to prepare them for open employment.
It also allows students to have the opportunity of working full-time before their graduation.
To further guide the students, The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is implementing a buddy system and providing additional support during their placements. The first cohort of interns started at the hotel in June.
