The Leisure and Cultural Services Department is committed to providing quality recreational and sports facilities for public use, of which children’s playgrounds constitute a major part. At present, about 70% of the children’s playgrounds offer diversified inclusive play equipment, which is suitable for all children, including those with disabilities. The designs of the equipment are aimed at bringing happiness to children while helping them learn different skills for balanced development. Hong Kong VELODROME PLAYGROUND
It is located at 105-107 Po Hong Road, Tseung Kwan O. The 5.3-hectare Park features an extensive lawn and artificial lakes, creating an attractive landscaped area. It also provides a variety of leisure and sports facilities, including a skatepark, an amphitheatre, a jogging track, a sport climbing wall, children’s play areas, a fitness corner for the elderly and a model boat pool.
Hong Kong Park Playground
The 1000-square-metre Children’s Playground is located on six platforms at different levels. The design concept for the playground is not only to engage children in active play, but also to stimulate imagination and creativity of children from pre-school age to school age. To enable children to play safely, the playground is carpeted with safety matting. For better security, the playground is installed with a closed circuit television system.
Kowloon Park Discovery Playground
Located in 137, Canton Road, the restored fortifications and cannon emplacements on the knoll are transformed into a playground for children under the age of 13. There is a large playground area with all the usual equipment.
Quarry Bay Park Children Playground
It is located at Taikoo Shing and Qurray Bay. The equipment is designed for use by children with and without disabilities. The facilities include climbing frame, slide, rocking horse, swing and swag boat. It is near to the Tai Koo Station Exit – E1.
Middle Road Children’s Playground
The Playground is located at Cherry Street, Mong Kok and is suitable for Age 2-12. There are slides, spring riders, play panels and swings. You can get there by bus 37, 66X, 16, 12, 20, E21, 43M, 79K, as well as MTR.
