Guiding Excellence and Growth: A Conversation with NAIS Principal, Mr. Tim Richardson
As one of Hong Kong’s most forward-looking international schools, Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong (NAIS Hong Kong) continues to stand out in a highly competitive education landscape. In this feature interview, NAIS Principal, Mr. Tim Richardson, shares how the school’s identity, academic pathways, and student-centred philosophy are shaping an exceptional learning experience.
Mr. Richardson describes NAIS Hong Kong as a global learning community that combines academic excellence with personalised education. With a student body representing more than 40 nationalities, he explains that the school fosters an inclusive and internationally minded environment. As part of Nord Anglia Education—the world’s largest family of premium international schools—students benefit from access to world-class resources, expertise, and global opportunities. He highlights exclusive collaborations with The Juilliard School, MIT, UNICEF, and IMG Academy, which enrich student experiences across the arts, STEAM, global citizenship, and sports. “What makes our school stand out is the incredible diversity of opportunities students can access, paired with a personalised approach to learning,” he shares.

A key strength of the school is its dual senior pathways. Mr. Richardson notes that the IB Diploma Programme is well-established and supported by experienced educators who guide students through its rigorous and holistic curriculum. He shares his excitement about the launch of A Levels at the new Sixth Form Centre in Hung Hom in August 2026, offering students the opportunity for subject specialisation aligned with their aspirations and university goals. The school will also introduce a Scholarship Programme recognising excellence in academics, leadership, sports, performing arts, creative arts and STEAM. He emphasises that whether students pursue IBDP or A Levels, both pathways are supported by personalised academic guidance and strong preparation for university destinations worldwide.
Student wellbeing and character development remain central to the school’s mission. Mr. Richardson explains that the House system provides a strong pastoral foundation from Early Years through Secondary, ensuring every child feels supported and connected. He highlights how mentoring, enrichment programmes, confidence building, and regular progress tracking allow students to thrive academically while developing resilience, independence, and essential life skills.
Community engagement is another defining aspect of NAIS Hong Kong. Mr. Richardson points to the active Parent and Teacher Association, which organises events that connect families and strengthen relationships. He notes that transparent communication, parent workshops, and collaborative forums ensure parents remain active partners in their children’s educational journey—a philosophy he considers vital to student success.
