1. Could you tell me a bit about yourself and your background

My name is Miru, a third generation owner and an artisan of Sindart – the renowned handmade embroidered shoes shop in Hong Kong. I host art workshops, exhibitions and apprentices training programmes. I am an illustrator and the author of “Embroidered Shoes”, an award-winning book recognised by Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Awards 2017(The Publishing Award (Art & Design).

2. Tell us more about your business.

Founded in 1958 by my grandfather Wong Tat Wing, Sindart, the historical brand in Hong Kong, is reputed for its handmade footwear and accessories. The embroidery techniques and shoemaking craftsmanship are demonstrated perfectly on our iconic embroidered shoes which are recognised as the “wearable art”.

3. Any advice for those who want to start a handicraft related business?

Product quality is the key to success for any handicraft creations. For those who want to start a business in this field, they have to make sure the quality of their products are well maintained and closely monitored.

4. How do you make yourself happy and ritzy in life?

Keeping yourself relaxed is crucial to a happy life. I like making pottery, watching animations and painting.
