Ritzy Chat : Founder of Flow With Me, Jiwon Maxted

by Ella

This week we chatted with Jiwon Maxted, founder of Flow With Me,  a multi-brand platform offering sustainable and fashionable yoga athleisure wear brands in Hong Kong. She is here to share with us what inspired her to start Flow With Me with her fashion background in New York. She told us some tips to stay healthy with a busy schedule and balance her work and family life as a Mompreneur, as well as her top tips to keep a happy and ritzy life.

1) Can you tell us more about yourself and your background ?

I moved to Hong Kong from Korea when I was 2 and Hong Kong is a home for me. I completed most of my studies at an ESF school before completing my BBA in Fashion Merchandising from Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York. Fashion has always been a passion of mine, and along with a love of yoga I was able to create Flow With Me, a multi-brand platform offering sustainable yoga and activewear brands to the Hong Kong Market.

2) What inspires you to start Flow with me?

After the birth of my second child I was properly introduced to yoga, I had the time to practice as much as I could and instantly fell in love with it. I suffered from bad sciatica after the pregnancies and yoga was the only thing that improved my overall body health. I started actively looking for some fun and unique yoga wear with an affordable price tag, but found it quite a challenge. Either the fit wasn’t right or the quality of the fabrics wasn’t up to standard. There were so many brands offered overseas that had a focus on using sustainable fabrics, trying to lessen their carbon footprint by producing as much of their items in house, and I wanted to support these types of small businesses.  I eventually formed the idea to bring these brands onto a multi brand platform where I could introduce them to the Hong Kong Market. I started with 4 brands and now have 9 brands and will continue to bring on more in the future.

3) Could you give us some tips to stay healthy with a busy schedule?

Organization is the key. I am a bit OCD with having everything in my calendar. I try to keep consistent workout schedules in the morning after my first cup of coffee, a mixture of yoga, cardio and barre keeps it interesting. Meal planning is also a huge help when trying to prepare healthy meals throughout the week.

4) How do you balance your work and family life as a Mompreneur?

I often struggle with mom guilt, there are times when I’ve had to sacrifice activities with the kids because of work events but then we balance it out by spending the following days with quality family time. My boys are now 7 and 10 so they are great at showing me support, they’ve come to visit some pop ups and helped with clean ups after so it becomes a family affair.

5) How do you make yourself happy and ritzy in life?

I’m happy by seeing the positivity and goodness in everything and taking every life lesson as a learning experience.
