Irisa Shannon Wong is a professional model and influencer based in Hong Kong. Irisa used to be known as the middle child of Hong Kong famous celebrities Michael Wong and Janet Ma. Now she has grown into an independent successful woman and has collaborated with brands like Louis Vuitton, Vestiaire, Calzedonia, and Casetify. This week, She shares with us how she started her career and her philosophy in life.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
I was born in HK, moved to the US when I was 15, and then came back when I was 23. I have two siblings- an older sister, and a younger brother. I’m the middle child.

How did you start your modeling career? Do you enjoy being a model?
My parents are both in the entertainment/fashion industry so I naturally was brought into it at a young age. I remember doing commercials with my family at a super young age. But i’ve always been a shy person. I never liked having attention on me so I never thought i would enjoy being in front of a camera all the time. I started getting more opportunities when I was around 13,14 years old to do different shoots and walk in some school fashion shows, and then eventually more serious jobs as I got older. I started modeling full time after I graduated from college in 2018 and moved back to HK. I enjoy it a lot. it’s a lot of fun most of the time. However, being judged and criticized on how you look can sometimes be tough. Having people tell you no is also super discouraging. You have to be strong mentally and not let it affect you too much and not take what people say too personally.

This is a hard one. I think staying true to yourself is super important. Also doing what you love is also important. You only get one life to live so you shouldn’t waste time doing things you don’t love/enjoy.

What are your goals for 2023?
Personal growth. Hopefully do more things out of my comfort zone so I can grow as a person.
