Ritzy’s monthly update of school news brings you up-to-date on the latest you need to know about Hong Kong’s education community. While students are out for the summer this July, schools are still operating. Here’s the lowdown this month.

 

ESF launches Diversity art exhibition

Diversity, equity and inclusion are some of the core values at ESF schools. To celebrate these traits, the international school group has launched an ESF-wide art exhibition with the theme of “Diversity”. Students across all ESF schools, from kindergarten to secondary, have showcased their talents. In addition to 100 individual pieces, there are also some collages created by groups of students. You can see the exhibition online here — it will be on show until September 30.

 

Lifewire and The Harbour School launch the “e.a.r.t.h. Project”

Lifewire and The Harbour School are joining hands to create the e.a.r.t.h. Project, revitalising the century-old Tai Tam Tuk Raw Water Pumping Station Staff Quarters Compound monuments. Honouring Hong Kong’s cultural history, the site will be transformed into an early years campus for the school called the Earth Campus. The new space will provide 150 places for children aged 3-8 with an average of eight to one student-teacher ratio. With its location near to the Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail, the Earth Campus will also serve as an open space for education, leisure and cultural activities for the public. The e.a.r.t.h. project is expected to be completed in 2028.

 

Experience a day at AISHK

As the only school in Hong Kong to offer both the IB Diploma and NSW HSC, Australian International School Hong Kong provides a balanced education for students from Reception (4 years of age) to Year 12. In the coming August, the school is offering potential students to experience a day in its secondary learning environment. Students will explore AISHK’s campus, take part in classes and meet the school’s warm community of staff and students. Register here.

 

FIS to offer Mandarin and Chinese Culture Enrichment Programme

French International School will begin offering an enrichment programme in Mandarin this coming September 2022 for all students enrolled in the language in 6e, 5e,4e and 3e. Aimed at motivated students, the new programme will help students understand more about Chinese culture and civilisation, creating a smooth path through the school’s “Parcours des langues”. If students wish to enrol into the Oriental Section in high school in later years, the programme will also help them prepare for the ‘’Oriental Section’’ speciality for their French General Baccalaureate.

 

AIS launches Visual & Performing Arts Summer Showcase 2022

American International School has launched its Visual and Performing Arts showcase for this year. Comprising art, music and drama, AIS’ classes are an expression of personal and cultural diversity within the context of the school and the community at large.
