A Restful Escape: Experience the World’s First Poké Ball Hotel in Hokkaido
For millions of Pokémon trainers around the globe, Poké Balls have long represented standard gear for housing and catching beloved creatures. Now, a groundbreaking architectural project transforms that iconic concept into a serene reality for humans. Created through a collaboration between the sleep-tracking mobile application Pokémon Sleep and luxury hospitality platform NOT A HOTEL, Japan has unveiled a singular, real-world Poké Ball-themed hotel.
Nestled quietly on the shores of a peaceful lake surrounded by dense forest in Hokkaido, the spherical structure offers a tranquil retreat designed entirely around restful sleep, natural harmony, and subtle digital immersion.
Designed for Ultimate Rest

Just as a Poké Ball serves as a cozy, safe harbor for Pokémon, this specially constructed villa translates that sanctuary design into a human-scale sanctuary for rest. The minimalist exterior blends smoothly into Hokkaido’s lush landscape, while the minimalist interior relies on a soothing, stark-white aesthetic. High-end bedding and plush furnishings gently cushion guests, inviting deep, uninterrupted relaxation.
By positioning the hotel deep within the woods far from city light pollution, the experience emphasizes a natural circadian rhythm: falling asleep under the natural moonlight and waking naturally with the morning sun filtering through the forest canopy.
Immersive Sleep Companion Experience
Inside the suite, tech and comfort meet thoughtfully. Suspended above the expansive window is a curved circular screen where various Pokémon appear, interacting softly and resting alongside guests throughout their stay. From quiet evening routines to calm morning awakenings, guests share their retreat with digital companions without disrupting the peaceful atmosphere.
An Exclusive, Limited Experience
Unlike standard luxury resorts, this unique Poké Ball accommodation is not open for standard bookings or walk-in public viewing. Built as an exclusive, invitation-only campaign to celebrate Pokémon Sleep, access was granted to just ten lucky pairs via an official promotional lottery in late 2026.
By merging luxury hospitality, thoughtful environmental architecture, and the playful universe of Pokémon Sleep, Japan’s Poké Ball hotel offers a dreamlike escape—proving that the ultimate Poké Ball experience is not about catching Pokémon, but enjoying the same peaceful rest they do.
