Canadian International School of Hong Kong – Learning outside the classroom

Canadian International School of Hong Kong encourage students learning outside the classroom. In November, Grade 5 students inquired into significant events, people and artifacts on their field trip to the Hong Kong History Museum and the Maritime Museum during their Where We Are in Place and Time unit of inquiry. In the classroom, the students have been researching and going on their own personal inquiry journeys into significant historical events, people and inventions. This field trip solidified and inspired many to look at the rich history Hong Kong has to offer. Along with parent volunteers, the students read about the importance of each exhibit and shared its significance back in the classroom.

 

American International School Hong Kong – Winter Fair 2022

American International School Hong Kong’s Wonderful Winter Fair is just around the corner! There will be student performances, games and the Grand Prize raffle draw on 9th Dec 2022. Over 60 prizes sponsored by various sponsors for the raffle tickets this year, just in time for the holiday season!

Victoria Shanghai Academy – Primary Schools Football Competition

Winning by a landslide with a 7-0 final score against Saint Louis School, the Victoria Shanghai Academy Soccer Boys are the new Champions of the HKSSF HK Island West Inter-Primary Schools Football Competition!

 

Malvern College Hong Kong – MYP interdisciplinary learning

Malvern College Hong Kong’s MYP interdisciplinary learning units has demonstrated the joy of learning across disciplines. Making, investigating, creating and collaborating have been evident in every learning space, at Malvern and outside in the community. Their MYP students made insightful connections and innovated in their learning through participated in  workshops and investigations in store, all of which have as their objectives the exploration of real-world challenges and purposeful actions.

 

Woodland Pre-Schools – Cognita Conference 2022

Woodland Pre-Schools hosted their Cognita Conference 2022 day, and took the opportunity to expand on the 3 C’s: Connection-Compassion-Courage all over Asia.  The event aimed to have their regional schools work closely together to align themselves in teaching and learning, leadership and management and teamwork. Topics included metacognition, self-regulated learning, learning from COVID-19, collaborating with other Cognita schools, collaborating in a hybrid environment and so on. Woodland cares about its students and staff, so it’s important to continuously help the team develop professionally in areas that interest them the most.

 

International College Hong Kong – AYP Expedition Training

Four teams of Year 10s and 11s at International College Hong Kong (ICHK) are preparing for a two day hiking expedition as part of the AYP. They have completed practice hikes, learnt camp-craft skills, how to navigate, how to deal with emergencies on the hill, how to cook a filling meal and have also planned their own routes. The activities have all been planned to help them set goals, develop leadership skills, and learn the importance of planning, commitment, perseverance, enterprise and effort. ICHK students complete the award as its goals exactly match the aims to develop the critical skills of collaboration, problem solving and decision-making.

 

International Montessori School – Casa classes

Age 3-6 children absorb information like a sponge. They learn to read and write in English and Chinese, and absorb mathematical and scientific principles. This is the most critical time to nurture your child’s natural curiosity and lay the foundation for all future development. The Casa dei Bambini classroom at International Montessori School(IMS) offers a creative, hands-on, interactive environment where the young child can explore, experiment and succeed. All Casa classes were buzzing with Open House activity. It was great to welcome all Casa parents back to school, and the kids loved sharing their work with mum and dad.  The parents were so impressed with the maths work their children did with the magic of Montessori.

 

Australian International School – Mental Health Week

Good mental health is more than just the absence of mental illness. It means you are in a state of wellbeing where you feel good and function well in the world. At Australian Internation School(AISHK) they are raising awareness through Mental Health Week. Commencing on 24 October, with the theme of  Communities and Connections, the week will see a range of events and activities for students, staff and parents, with the goal of enhancing our individual and collective wellbeing.

 

Hong Kong Academy – Community Mural: “A Dragonfly’s Journey”

‘A Dragonfly’s Journey’ is the latest community mural at Hong Kong Academy(HKA) and is the culmination of two years of creativity and dedication from a range of HKA students and community members. The mural celebrates our school’s 20th anniversary and was concepted, donated and installed with the support of Stuart Harris, HKA parent and co-founder of Team Building Asia. Student leadership takes many forms at HKA, and the mural project was a fantastic opportunity for the student artists to apply their creative, collaborative and communication skills. The project’s leadership team consisted of students from Grades 6 to 12 who were involved in concepting, designing and producing the finished piece. It was a privilege to see students draw in their own personal styles, share their ideas and appreciate the perspectives of others as they digitised the art and brought the composition together.

 

Nord Angelia International School Hong Kong – Exploring whole lot of STEAM

The MIT team have set Nord Anglia students 3 challenges around the theme of ‘Extreme Weather’ and the first one was introduced by Dr. Kerry Emanuel. He’s an MIT professor who is totally into tropical cyclones. No really—he’s goes into them, by choice! Professor Emanuel is a premier meteorologist and climate scientist, and one of the world’s leading authorities on tropical cyclones (more commonly called hurricanes, or typhoons, depending on where you live in the world). He has experienced many of these storms from the cockpit of small, strong airplanes while running field experiments, and the challenge which was set for our Year 2 students was to build a structure which could withstand extreme winds.

 

Shrewsbery International School – Celebrating the fifth academic year

Shrewsbery International School marked the arrival of our fifth academic year since foundation with the visit of British Consul-General, Brian Davidson CMG, earlier this month. Marking a first school visit since his arrival into the region, he was accompanied on a full school tour and a meeting with a group of student representatives by Shrewsbury Principal, Ben Keeling. Mr Davidson spoke warmly about the nature of his role and listened intently to students keen to share news of their latest initiatives, which include the delivery of a school-wide dining survey.
