Born and raised in Paris, Anisha Thai is a Half-Vietnamese and half-Comoran dancer and a proud ambassador of African culture in Hong Kong. She tells us how she got her start in dance and the most memorable moment of her life.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
My name is Anisha Thai and I’m a dancer, choreographer, influencer and model. I used to be an engineer – I actually just quit my job, so I’m super happy to be able to pursue my passions full-time. Now, I can really use my time to create content, develop myself and learn new things.

Tell us about your dancing?
I started dancing when I was five years old. I always loved music from stars like Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Britney Spears… so I started from there. I wanted to become like them and perform on stage, to give out their energy and feel the energy from the audience.

What does your typical day look like?
It’s never the same! Usually I wake up, either super early or super late. I watch Chinese videos to practice my Mandarin or my Cantonese – that’s the first thing that I do. Sometimes I practice my singing and train and rehearse. I practice backflips and things like that. After that, I usually watch more Chinese videos – I’m very dedicated to that! I respond to emails, secure deals, sometimes I have shootings so it really depends. Late at night, I’ll call my parents.
Share the most memorable moment of your life so far?
I think it was the first time I received the title of “dance champion”. It was not in Hong Kong, actually, it was when I was 17 back in England. I’d never done a competition before, it was my first time, I went there because I was part of a team and I participated in two solos. I wasn’t expecting anything but in total, I won three prizes! I discovered my talent and skill in dancing and was so happy it was recognised.

How do you make yourself happy and ritzy in life?
Music, definitely. Whenever I listen to music, it automatically switches on a positive energy in me. Also, when I meet people – I feel like each person has their own energy, so I’m just always excited to meet new people with different energies and different personalities. It’s like discovering a new world.
