This week we chatted with Dee Oh, the Founder of Dee Dream Life, which offers premium holistic health solutions in fun and enriching classes. She is here to share with us what inspired her to start Dee Dream Life by leaving a promising career as an investment banker. She told us some tips to stay healthy with a busy schedule and her goals in 2022. She shared with us her top tips to keep a happy and ritzy life with her personal experience in recovering from mental health challenges.

1. Can you tell us more about yourself and your background ?

I am a Malaysian Chinese mixed with Thai, born in Malaysia, grew up in Brunei and migrated to Australia when I was a teenager. I moved to Hong Kong more than 7 years ago when I felt the calling to explore what this part of the world had to offer when I was offered another job in investment banking. A year after moving to Hong Kong, it became apparent
that it was time for me kickstart my career as a coach, which I had long thought of doing and that Hong Kong was the right place for me to endeavour it. Aside from the coaching at Dee Dream Life, I have also been the resident coach for some of the most prestigious clubs, community centres and schools in Hong Kong.

2. What inspires you to start the Dee Dream Life by leaving a promising career as aninvestment banker?

I had always had the dream of starting an organisation that would help people grow and be the best version of themselves through support and coaching that seemed to be not as prevalent in Asia as compared to more developed societies. To me, it was very important that I would pursue utilising my skills and energy to working on something that was truly meaningful for me and aligned with my personal life purpose. This is particularly so because a big part of my work at Dee Dream Life is to support people to find the right career paths that aligns them to their most suitable life path.

3. How do you stay fit and healthy?

I try my best to balance myself with a good amount of fitness workouts, dance fitness that really makes me feel joyful, refreshed and invigorated, yoga with meditation to keep my mind and muscles restored to its harmonious balance. In a hectic lifestyle in HK where we are constantly juggling between work, play and rest, it is easy to overwork and push ourselves too hard. I try to really tune in to my body, mind and spirit to keep that balance from getting out of control. Health is often not seen as an issue until something flares up. I try to live what I preach, which is to be conscious and aware of the state of my body, mind and spirit continuously in a preventative manner.

4. What are your goals in 2022 in your wellness journey?

My goals in 2022 include taking more time for myself by carving out time every morning to attend to my own needs before I start coaching others for the rest of the day. I am also aiming to cook more this year and this goal is well aligned with the closure of restaurants at 6pm! I have been hosting dinners and loving spending more time in the kitchen. Another goal is to read and attend more training to further my knowledge on subject matters that I am interested in.

5. With your personal experience in recovering from mental health challenges, how do you make yourself happy and ritzy in life?

Always trying to see the light of every situation and laugh a lot. My partner helps me with this too as he is very light hearted and cannot help but crack a joke always in any situation, no matter how grim. I think not taking life and ourselves too seriously is very important to keep oneself happy and ritzy! In the wise words of one of my gurus, “To be enlightened, is to lighten up!”
