This week we chatted to Man Chee, Founder of Luna yoga dance about her life in the Yoga industry, how her business survived in the pandemic and how she recovered from the anxiety by practising yoga.

I used to have anxiety before studying yoga. By practising yoga regularly we can have the space for the mind to be zoned out from the outer world – Man Chee

1. Could you tell me a bit about yourself and your background?

Hi, I am Man Chee, a yoga teacher and a yoga studio founder based in Hong Kong. I completed my teacher training in India and went to the Himalayan Iyengar School to learn yoga asanas, breathing and philosophy. I met a lot of good teachers throughout my yoga journey, like one of the top 100 Indian yoga teachers, Bipin Baloni in Rishikesh and Master Sharat Arora, who has assisted yoga physiotherapy for many years at Master BKS Iyengar. My goal is to continue my Sadhana practice(self study to enlightenment) and to inspire more people to study yoga.

2. What encouraged you to start your yoga journey?

I started yoga because there was a time in my life that I was not happy and healthy, both physically and mentally. When I did yoga, I felt the worries fade away.

3. What is the hardest part in your yoga business?

It was the time when we were forced to close during the pandemic. However, I have faith that students would return for class when things are getting back to normal and they do!

4. How do you make yourself happy and ritzy in life?

I used to have anxiety before studying yoga. For now, I would say I am blissful even on the days when I have negative emotions. It can’t affect my inner peace for most of the time. I think the secret would be to practise yoga regularly and we can have the space for the mind to be zoned out from the outer world.
